With over 400 years of history, the contributions of Native-Americans, the Spanish, Mexicans, and the cowboys of the Wild West, have all been blended together into one dynamic culture. Our History
The Spanish explorers who reached the Rio Grande in 1581 viewed the pass between two mountain ranges that rose out of the desert and named it El Paso del Norte, or The Pass of The North. Soonafter in 1598, the area was colonized by an expedition under Don Juan de Oñate, who brought Spanish civilization to El Paso.
